I didn’t expect this beer to be so dark. It was dark amber almost brown with a small slightly cream colored head. It has a roasty nose to it and has an almost chocolate-like porter taste to it. You can detect an almost sweet slight aftertaste to it. I am totally impressed with this beer I can’t wait to try the brewery’s other beers.

Bottle. I find this beer a bit underrated. It ain't overly complex, and it's by no means strong. But it had a nice mix of malts and chocolate that I found appealing from start to finish. This would be a good 6-pack beer if I lived in Montana.

Thanks Wulfhere! Dark amber in color, nice chocolate raspberry aroma. Nice malty flavor, subtle, bitter hop finish....not bad....no real complaints here.

On draught at Bogart’s in Red Lodge, Montana. Called a "pale ale" on the menu but pours an opaque brown with a white head. Soft mouthfeel, medium-bodied, with a very clean flavor dominated by the malt, subdued hops. Nice

Thanks to Skyview. Pours a nice dark auburn color. Very deep rich toffee like malt on the nose. Very thick with a good smokey roasted profile as well as some rich toffee, but not too spectacular, and lacking much balance.

Sampled on draught and in bottles at Sam’s Tap Room, next to the brewpub in Red Lodge, Montana. Pours a cola caramel color brew with a creamy off-white head. Aroma of nutty brown malt, some apple and a touch of flowery hops. Taste is smooth and creamy, medium bodied with a smoked bready malt character. Palate has a slight dry flowery hop aftertaste that turns into a dry finish. Seems the on draught version has a little more flavor than the bottled version.

Bottle. Poured with a small, off-white head that diminished to a thin film. Body was clear with a dark reddish-brown color. Very nice aroma of roasted malt. Light on the palate, slightly creamy texture with soft carbonation. Nice flavor - lightly sweet with a roasted edge that helped the beer go down really smooth. Definitely one I could have again, if not necessarily something to write home about.

Appearance: Pours a clear, dark reddish-brown body with a tiny, off-white head. Smell: Aroma of caramel, toast, even roast, along with some spicy hops. Taste: Toasty caramel maltiness with a bit of roast. Light flavors of chocolate and grains. Restrained sweeness throughout. Spicy hops with a medium, earthy bitterness. Drying finish with a final taste of grain. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: Just a nice, pleasant lil’ beer.
