Commercial Description:
Red Oak is a Munich Urtyp (old style) lager. We begin the brewing process with custom kilned imported Munich malt. Red Oak is then is the hopped with Spalt Noble hops imported from Bavaria, the oldest hop growing region in the world. Before fermentation we add a yeast strain from Weihenstehpen, the oldest brewery in the world, founded before 1040 AD. Weeks of aging gives Red Oak the smooth taste its known for.

The perfect beer. My all time favorite. Red Oak smeels of fresh hops and malt. A true treat. Red Oak uses no preservatives and it tastes accordingly.

After reading the other comments about Red Oak Amber, the reason for their comments and rating is clear to me, freshness!! I live in Greensboro, where red Oak is brewed and have enjoyed the beer right from the brewery many times. It is full bodied and flavorful with a nice head. However, I've had it at several local restaurants where the beer was flat, dull, and lifeless. Red Oak is only available on tap so c'mon boys and keep a fresh keg tapped because freshness makes all the difference!

Being from the Greensboro area, I absolutely love this beer. It is a great beer to drink with a steak dinner. It has a nutty & caramel taste and looks great coming out of the tap. The only problem I have is that the Brewery doesn’t bottle it yet, so I have to go to a local bar and pay $3.00 to get it.

I live near the brewery/pub, I always enjoy and Red Oak and their Drunk'n Chicken. Nice taste lite nut, woody and smooth, not too heavy, good taste on its own as well. I personally enjoy it, but it is my local beer. Don't buy it anywhere else then the corner of Guilford college and friendly. Try the Drunk'n Chicken with the beer.

BEER POURS AAMBER WITH AN INCONSISTENT OFF-WHITE HEAD. DIFFERENT TASTE VARIANT FROM KEG TO KEG. HOWEVER THIS IS A FAIRLY TASTY BREW, ESPECIALLY FOR GREENSBORO! LOVE THAT THIS BREW IS UNFILTERED! HAS GOOD SEMI-SWEET MALTINESS. LOOKING FORWARD TO NEW BREWERY IN WHITSETT!

Cloudy orange beer with a peaty aroma. Musty, moldy woody and woody (did I mention woody). Crispy and lightly sweet.

True unfiltered Munich. I don’t know why this is under Oktoberfest, it’s not their Oktoberfest offering. Amber, off-white head, caramel and malt taste, slight red apple. Yeast sediment at times, sometimes sour. Tastes slightly of a compromise to please the masses, but nonetheless a fine offering. Too much bastardization of German practice in America, in my opinion.

Sampled at the 10th annual Brewgrass festival in Ashville. Amber color with light hazy and a light head. Lightly toasted lagerish grain. Nothing off at all in the aroma, just straight forward. Toasted grain flavor with a creamy sweetness. Some fruity notes hiding in there and a lightly bitter lingering finish. Interesting and enjoyable. Medium creamy body.
