Very tasty dunkel made in my back yard. A fine porter alternative, for you dark beer fans, but smoother than ale. Pours opaque black, slight head dissipates quickly. Various roast caramel, coffee, chocolate notes, very slightly and delicately hopped. Like most Bavarians, the malt does the work.

One of my all time favorites. I can not get enough of this beer. Dark roasted taste. Several flavors come alive while consuming a pint of BB. VERY fresh tasting.

Sampled at Brewgrass Fest. My first impression was "see also Negra Modelo" but after some more tasting I decided that there was more roastyness in this one.

The darkest and most exciting beer they had that night. Roasted malt dominates and that’s about all it has. A little coffee to tease you a bit.

From notes 1/7/03: Very dark, almost stout-like...yet it is a lager. Pours virtually opaque, with a thin hint of head upon the dark liquid. Again, the "old" formula seems to have been tweaked and a sourness has been added. Depending on the batch you get, the flavors run from sweet to sour. Regulars seem to not enjoy the change. Thin to medium mouthfeel, not much body to it for such a dark beer. Average drinkability. Once you get past the sour taste, you’re fine.

A most interesting beer. very dark and very full of body. I got alot of roast in it up front and a thick malt backbone. This is what bad asses put in their water bottle instead of water.

Tap at Red Oak Brewpub. Black with a frothy tan head. Mild roasty chocolate aroma and taste. A little on the thin side. Decent.
