Commercial Description:
Hummingbird is a light lager or Hell (Helles) similar to those found throughout Bavaria. We use carefully selected Pilsner malt... then it is delicately hopped with imported Tettnang noble hops. Then we add a proprietary lager yeast strain which is not filtered out. Hummin’ Bird is slow cold aged for over one month resulting in a lush mouth feel.

Not a big pils. fan here by I have to rate it according to the style. Yellow in color...did I say Yellow? Thin in body Good pizza beer bitter when it hits the palate but fades fast. Still better than miller, bud or any other mass produced BS!

on tap-pours a white head and pale yellow color. Aroma is faint grain. Taste is grain, faint hops flatness. Refreshing helles. Ok carbonation.

Basically yellow fizzy water. My first impression was "is this O’Douls?" It is hard to believ that this is actually a beer. Don’t bother with this beer unless you are a fan of disappointment.

Sampled at the brewery. Waitress called this light beer. I call it pilsner but pale lager is better. Not exciting and definitely not worth going out of your way to get this one.

From notes 3/4/03: A hazy orange 96 calorie light lager. Presented with a fluffy white head that laced just a little. A malty aroma with a touch of sourness to it. The taste profile included a crisp bubbly carbonation on the tongue. Virtually no hop presence at all with this lager. There is also a hint of sourness in the aftertaste. The mouthfeel was surprisingly more full than I anticipated. For a "light" beer this one had some character. This is a rather refreshing thirst-quenching offering from the folks at Red Oak. Draught-only as all their beers are unfiltered, unpasteurized.

Tap at Red Oak Brewpub. Pale yellow, watery, little hop presence, just a tad sweet at the finish.
