| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Aug 19, 2008 It’s not often you rate a beer 2.7 and then discover its the best beer you’ve had from that country. Take a bow, Mexico. To be fair, that may be more indicative of the quality of Australian importing than Mexican brewing. The best thing about this beer is the label. The rest is nothing to squeal about. Boom boom. This pig was burnished bronze with a thin cap of suds pulled tight around its ears. Sweet and lively aroma of crystal malt, cola, Weetbix, all-spice and pig sty. (Okay, no pig sty.) Hard, spritzy mouthfeel. Pretty sweet, as ambers tend to be, with strong Cola notes. Also rust, crystal malt, quince paste and a mild bitter buzz in the swallow. To sum up, it’s an industrial amber all right, but not as grim as you might expect. Pours deep brown, rather clear. A small, film head on top. Aroma is very nice, some spiciness and dark chocolate. Medium carbonation and a rather light mouthfeel. Flavour is sweet, very dry, some metal off-flavours and a fine chocolate finish. Okay. bb (2930), Martinez, California, USA

Golden brown with a thin white head. Inoffensive malt and hops. Some caramel and a little on the cloying side as Chris has noted. Over all not as bad as I was expecting in all honesty.
