highlandlad (1207), Sydney, Australia Aug 19, 2008 It’s not often you rate a beer 2.7 and then discover its the best beer you’ve had from that country. Take a bow, Mexico. To be fair, that may be more indicative of the quality of Australian importing than Mexican brewing. The best thing about this beer is the label. The rest is nothing to squeal about. Boom boom. This pig was burnished bronze with a thin cap of suds pulled tight around its ears. Sweet and lively aroma of crystal malt, cola, Weetbix, all-spice and pig sty. (Okay, no pig sty.) Hard, spritzy mouthfeel. Pretty sweet, as ambers tend to be, with strong Cola notes. Also rust, crystal malt, quince paste and a mild bitter buzz in the swallow. To sum up, it’s an industrial amber all right, but not as grim as you might expect. (355ml bottle from Petersham Cellars)
hopdog (4956), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 7, 2009 12oz bottle. Poured a deeper amberish-orange color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of caramel, some citrus, and a little biscuity. Tastes of caramel and some citrus. Also has an overall graininess to it. Body was on the thinner side as were the tastes. DuffMan (2194), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Dec 14, 2008 Clear amber. Low caramel aroma. same one-note caramel palate. On the thin side. More like a typcal Mexican vienna style where they add a dash of caramel colour to a thin shitty pale malt foundation. Whatever. hobbersr (61), Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada Dec 11, 2008 Pours a dark red colour with a small white head. Aroma is of citrus, spice, soft fruit sweetness, malt, and a hint of cherries. Tastes of plums, caramel, spice and a medicinal finish. OK beer, not great. cgarvieuk (2796), Edinburgh, Scotland Dec 4, 2008 Bottle at home ... from my local mexican ... copper ... sweet woody malts ... over fizzy ... biscuity malts ... light hop ... decent but uninspired. Bullit (687), Glasgow, Scotland Nov 29, 2008 Clear amber colour, white head. Aroma has some caramel malts. Flavour of sweet malts. Not bad.
