Nate (2533), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 7, 2008 On tap at the brewery. Carbonic gaseousness, bitter grain and coffee grounds acidity. Light toasted malt and just a hint of coffee. Mild chocolate and a bit of fruity hops. Dark black clear with creamy light tan lacing head. Medium watery body with light smooth carbonation - like a nitrogenated stout. Starts with toasted and burnt malt, light lactose sweetness and a bit of bitter coffee. Odd salty-soft water taste, kind of typical for this place. Good bitter hops at finish with dry chalky bitter coffee-nutty after. Not a strong coffee flavor, but OK. dpjuart (670), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 28, 2008 6/12/08 - Draft sample at brewpub. Pours brown with amber hues and khaki head. Coffee and roasted malt nose. Taste is roast and coffee with moderate bitter. Some chocolate and more roast. Pretty decent. santos999 (318), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA May 18, 2008 On tap at the Pints for Pets Brewfest. Medium brown color. A standard porter with only the slightest hints of coffee. Pretty thin in the mouth. Meh.. euserphriendly (163), Holland, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 7, 2005 Wow, now that is a coffee laced beer. I think I caught a caffeine buzz on this one as well. Make sure to try it if they have it. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 21, 2004 Had at HBF, draft. Pours dark brown. Aroma of malt, coffee, chocolate. Tastes malty, with coffee, chocolate, some nuttiness at the finish. FROTHINGSLOSH (1961), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 9, 2004 Updated: Aug 12, 2007Draft. Pours a dark black color with a medium tan head. The scent is a bit subdued but there is a definite coffee aroma. The mouthfeel is thin and watery and a bit of a disappointment. The texture is smooth and the flavor is full on coffee and just a hint of hops to the finish. The coffee flavor is so strong that you really can not taste any of the malt. Drinks pleasantly. michael-pollack (2598), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 14, 2004 A good porter. Lots of choclate and coffee notes. Almost too sweet. Very drinkable. Best served very cold. Holdwine (904), Beertimore, Maryland, USA Oct 10, 2003 Nicely done, they say they add gourmet coffee to the mix and it works well. Sort of the Drew Carey Buzz beer concept. What makes it work is the porter base is finely crafted. Rich caramel and toffee combine with the over-the-top coffee to make a truly enjoyable beer. Great sweet malty buildup. I am a freak about coffee, so this one was made for me. The only negative, all these strong flavors overshadow any hops presence.
