On tap at the brewhouse, bright amber color, with a white head, yeasty, fruity, toasty, grainy, raw malt nose, with a hint of earthy malt smokiness, with some fruity esters of raisin and fig, with a faint spicy aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a yeasty, fruity, grainy toasted, caramelized malt character, with a light smokiness, with a pinch of spiciness, leading towards a faint toasty malt, lingering hop bitterness finish.

Thick brown pour with smaller off-white head. Nose is yeast, spice, and caramel. Flavor has much of the same with touch of smoke and roasted malt. Decent carbination with a clean finish.

On tap at the brewpub on 10/14/07: Pours a murky dark ruby mahogany with a thin ring of wispy white head. Aroma of toasty, grainy caramel malt with a touch of cherries and Belgian yeast. Starts fairly full and toasty caramely sweet with a drier spice balance and a slightly blander doughy and bitter finish. Has some decent authenticity, but needs more sweetness.
