| 1.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 1/5 | 5/20 | Dec 20, 2005 Hazy amber pour wearing a light white film. Light doughyness from the yeast contrasts with solventy phenolic off notes from the aroma. Highly oxidized in mouth where cardboard beginnings turn into penny endings while light caravienna is disturbed by painting flavours. Almost flat bodied, slightly oily and dull texture. beerbuzzmontreal (2911), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/20 | Nov 29, 2005 Clear red pour with a ring of offwhite lace. Very unpleasant aroma of varnish and nails polish. Flavor of varnish, alcohol and sweetness. The palate is light and watery with low carbonation. This was a drain pour, now I know why the monk is angry. Goldorak (439), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 1.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Nov 28, 2005 Amber caramel, with only a thin veil of lace.
It smelled like a ’70s era beauty salon, industrial strength nail polish and wet, frizzy, over-permed hair. Also throw in there some kind of spirit varnish or lacquer. Pe-eww.
Stale, acrid and without any body or appeal whatsoever. I really hope we got a bad bottle because if this was what the brewer was going for, it wasn’t worth the trouble of bottling it. Only a few sips were needed to decide that this one was a drainer. A few other guys at the tasting did the same with their sample too. MartinT (5068), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Nov 27, 2005 The Lure: Candied apricots, bananas and cherries battle with a rubbery component. Caramel maltiness clashes with a tired spiciness.
The Festivities: Dim flavors and lame carbonation cannot entice. Peaches and apples follow up into a slightly hop bitter finish. Yeast touches everything, and most don’t appreciate the proximity.
Transcendence: Immaturity won’t solve anything. Kevin (1918), Colorado, USA
