(Cask at GBBF, London, 8 Aug 2007) Black colour with brownish notes, brief head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of toffee and chocolate, a bit thin. Malty, roasted taste with chocolate and toffee, fairly sweet. Rather short, chocolatey finish. Not bad at all, but not really my favourite porter.

Cask gravity @ GBBF 2007, London. Dark brown color with a small to average, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white to light brown head. Aroma is light to moderate malty, roasted, mocca, moderate hoppy, citrus. Flavor is moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter with a average duration. Body is light to medium, texture is watery, carbonation is flat.

9/3/07 On nitrous at the brewery. Aroma is chocolate roast with some slight black patent notes; relatively sweet with no hop character. Appearance is very dark brown with a solid tan head. Flavor is roast malt forward with some more toast character and no hop flavor. Medium/full bodied with decent cream texture. Overall, well made but not too exciting.

9/3/07 Carbonated version on draught at the brewery. Aroma is roasted malt forward with an odd smoked fish character (not objectionable), but I do love my salmon. The schwartz character fades out after a while and there are no hop notes. Appearance is dark brown with a low tan head. Flavor is rast, toast malt forward followed by low bittering and a slightly resiny hop character. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a medium carb bite, low creaminess and a dry finish. Overall, strongly flavored, rich, with a bit of everything you can get in a porter.

Is this a porter? This beer is watery and thin and lacking in the flavor category. What a disappointment!

Cask-GBBF. Black with a tiny light brown head. Roast aroma, some chocolate and licorice. Roast flavour with the right London-porter charcoal note, but rather thin.

Bottled 03-27-07. Nearly opaque brown-black, with a small and lasting head. Slight aroma of metallic molasses and brown sugar. Flavor of mild coffee, metallic-spiced toffee, slight earthy-smoked molasses. Palate is dryish, light-medium bodied, tingly and watery.
