Dark color. Smell of caramel, coffee, chocolate, hops, malt and minor pine. Tastes very watery with chocolate, hops, malt, coffee and burnt toast.

12 oz bottle..dark brown strong black coffee color with a small mocha colored head...weak malt aroma...watery tasting with a slight coffe bitterness...thinner on the palate than I was expecting...good finish...OK beer but not an outstanding porter

Dark brown body, off white head. Aroma is fairly roasty, light caramel, not much other then that. Taste is very roasty, light hop background, nice and roasty porter is the main way to describe it, really no chocolate or coffee shows.

The label on this bottle actually reads “bottled” just in case I was confused about what I was about to drink from. Hmm. It pours deep clear chestnut and has a thin tan head. The aroma is semi sweet roasted malts with a faint, very faint, burnt maltiness. Much like the aroma the taste seems semi sweet roasted malts to a hint of sweet molasses. A faint burnt malt note tries to cut into the sweeter notes and becomes a rather softened burntness. So that standard Porter flavor of burnt Black Patent type malts comes up somewhat short. It does try to make a feeble attempt to re-surface in the after taste but seems to be a faint echo of what could have been.

Had this beer on a recent trip to Washington, I was impressed with the rich, black body that smoothed over the palate with mild chocolate in mind. Lovely roasted malts are apparent, however the finish is weaker than expected. All in all, a decent porter. That goes light on sweetness and heavier into those toasty warm malts.

Bottle. This is a poor example of a porter. Something about the aroma was very unsettling. There was a distinct hint of damp soil and rotting leaves, neither of which was pleasant. The flavor was lacking, with a completely bland watery finish. I’d steer people away from this one.

Brown color with faint brown head floating around top. Dry cocoa nose with watery finish. Some cereal grain in there too. Watery flavor with a grainy malt body and smooth chocolate finish. An approachable summer porter.
