I really enjoyed this porter, although perhaps I was just happy to drink a porter again after such a long hiatus (had not ordered a porter in quite a while). Pours very dark, nice and thick with a medium tan head, aroma was bitter and sharp, although chocolate and coffee dominated. Flavor was pleasant, though mild. Overall I like this one, and will get it again. linc33 (177), Albany, New York, USA

Like the darkest of chocolate and coffee - bitter! Drain pour for me. Not a horrible taste, nothing that’s really unexpected, just don’t like it. ryan (1781), Beltsville, Maryland, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jun 17, 2006 Nice dark Porter. Formost taste for me was carmel. Light chocolate taste next then coffee. Poured with a thick long lasting head. Good lacing. A easy drinking Porter that is a little on the light side. Have had better(fuller bodied) but Blackhook is still good. jb (1056), Rochester, New York, USA

Mixed tan to dark from top to bottom with a thick head. Burnt , roasted, toasted type aromas, a bit of chocolate. Palate is great, super creamy and lush. Beer improves greatly as it warms. jujubeast6000 (795), Houston, Texas, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 16, 2006 12 oz. bottle, purchased at Total Wine in Ft. Myers, FL with a 10/17/05 bottled on date...Pours a solid chocolate fudge with a very spare, spongy-beige head that quickly vanished into the brownie batter abyss...Smell some roasted molasses with small traces of celery-like hops. Best way to describe the aroma is "chocolate dipped plum"...Medium in body and sticky in texture with average carbonation and bitter finish...Tastes slightly sweet but very bitter...Overall, it’s just like a very bitter glass of liquid dark chocolate. A solid smokey porter that would go well with an elaborate 5 course meal. Papsoe (15103), Frederiksberg, Denmark
