| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 13, 2006 This beer does a great job of blending 3 very distinct flavors (coffee, chocolate, caramel) in to a SMOOTH beer. I liked that this porter wasn’t overly smoky. One of the better Red Hook beers. Ughsmash (4079), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Mar 9, 2006 Bottled. Poured a clear, medium chestnut brown with a short-lived yellowy-beige head. Nose was of lightly burnt dark chocolate malts and stale floral hoppage. Flavor was of burnt dark malts, nuttiness, and floral bitters at the edges and finish. Light-bodied with less-than-ideal carbonation. This lacked that little something needed to make it memorable... and maybe some body. LilKem (1210), Marietta, Ohio, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Mar 3, 2006 Well, this is interesting. Not in a good way. the flavor was there but the body wasn’t. there was virtually no aroma. the flavor was weak chocolate with some hints towards malt and nutty flavors. kind of bitter finish. the body was flatter and weaker than Paris Hilton. Just need to beef it up a bit and we might be working with something. entertheiceman (242), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

Smooth and a bit sweet - a good beer but not worth giving up Guinness for! 6re99 (19), Oak Ridge, Tennessee, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Feb 9, 2006 The Redhook Blackhook does indeed have a smooth taste. It pours with a heavy, lingered head, and has a mild coal taste. This is a very drinkable beer.
