Nitro tap. Pours deep brown with a creamy head from the nitro. Fluffy mouthfeel. Not much flavor due to the overwhelming creminess. Good mouthfeel.

Bottle poured black with a fizzy tan head. Light roasty chocolate aroma with a sweet roasty flavor and dry finish.

Brown body with tan head. Aroma and flavor were of light roasted malts. Medium body to this porter but a smooth and easy drinkable beer.

Deep ruby brown, with a large rocky light tan head. Cocoa, roat malt, and nutty aromatics. Creamed coffee, nut, and powdered cocoa flavors. Slight astringency in the finish, accompained by some residual malty sweetness. Mouthfeel is medium light, and rather smooth.

Bottle, purchased at brewery in WA. Clear, deep chestnut brown with ruby highlights. Putty-colored head is small and fluffy. Intense nutty aroma; also cocoa powder, chocolate ice cream, and suggestions of licorice and tarragon. Flavor is nutty and lightly sweet, with espresso, fruit (gooseberry perhaps?), and some citric acidity. Mouthfeel is on the light side of medium, smooth, and very "wet", if that makes any sense. Mild bittersweet aftertaste with a "green" hop flavor. Everybody brews a porter, but few do it well... sour, overhopped, watery, or sticky sweet porters abound. Blackhook is exceptional; easy-drinking, delicious, and true to style.

Intriguing aroma followed up by simple, almost mediocre flavor. Body is a little thin and nothing special but still a slightly above average beer.

Pours a dark body similar to coca cola. Head was minimal. Aroma had hints of chocolate but was more roasty. Flavor was largely roast, but fairly basic. Very dry finish. Nothing special.

I am not a huge fan of this brewer. I am also not a big porter fan - so my hopes were note real high going into this one. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark black color with a small tan head. The aroma is sharp dry malt, a hint of chocolate, and crisp hops. The flavor is dry, malty and has a moderate coffee flavor. The finish is dry and almost gritty.
