Light for a porter but still a nice tasting beer. Nutty roasted malt with a hint of coffee. I recommend this beer, it’s just not as bold as most porters. temporrari (327), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA

This is really quite average as far as porters go. Some good, but mild, roasty aroma and flavor, more in the flavor. Overall it’s just very mild and smooth. Not really all that great, but It’s decent enough, a sessionable beer, and not offensive in the least. KAggie97 (2459), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 4, 2005 Pours a nice dark mahogany with a tan head. Aroma is roasted malt and a touch of more roasted malt. Flavor is an extension of the aroma, with a slight alcohol burn on the back of the tongue. Light hops prick at the taste buds gently, but they are wise enough to let the malt do the talking. Not bad, but not one of the great examples of the style. biz82 (1328), austin, Texas, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 31, 2005 Dark mahogany brown with a thin foam ring of a head. Light perfume and roast aroma. Nice body. Finishes a bit acrid and bitter. Burnt caramel flavor. Not a bad beer and even when it first came out beers such as Anchor and Fullers Porter were available to compare it to but it seems particularly uninteresting compared to the range of offerings today. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 11, 2005 Not a bad porter. Pours an opaque black with a thick tan head. Aroma of coffee and roasted malt. Flavor is a bittersweet mix of roasted malt, some nutty notes and a mild coffee taste. A step below Sierra Nevada’s porter. Decent enough. lagermonkey (597), Marietta, Georgia, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 9, 2005 Pours black with tinges of ruby around the edges fwith a thin off-white head. Smells sweet and nutty with burnt malt aromas.
Tastes a bit malty with burnt malt undertones. A bit thin and watery. Taste leaves the palette quickly. Medium bodied but not much there. Weak flavored. Not bad, certainly drinkable but immensely boring. A forgettable beer.
