Pours a dark brown with barely some red hilights. Off-white head. Raosted coffee witha light hop finish. Some light nuttiness int he background. A little one-dimensional but as good as you’re going to get from Redhook. badgerben (3605), Blaine, Minnesota, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 11, 2005 Black color with no head. Slight coffee notes in the aroma. Sour and bitter chocolate dominate the taste, overwhelming any malt or coffee that might be there. Not terrible, but it’s one dimensional. beerinmarch (2829), Washington, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 11, 2005 Roasty coffee nose over a dark brown body with a soft tan head. Chocolate up front followed by an iced coffee taste and bitter finish. Lighter body with a smooth roasting that only gets a bit harsh in the finish. Nice all around porter but a bit thin. beerslayer (753), New Jersey, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 28, 2005 Pours to a near-black color with a small head. Nice roasty smell. Great balence of roat/coffee flavor and a hint of chocolate. The finish is just what I like - roasty, slighly bitter, and lasting. Good stuff, and even better because I got it on special for $3.99 a six-pack! atpayne (615), Zionsville, Indiana, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Mar 27, 2005 Nitro Blackhook on tap at BW3’s in downtown Indy. Nearly opaque with a very full creamy nitro fuled head. Not much of an aroma, I expected some roasted or chocolate malts but didn’t really get much of either. It is smooth and creamy with a very slight roasted head but, just as the aroma, there was not any type of flavor that I would expect from a proter. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 25, 2005 Pours black with a small tan head that starts fading immediately leaving a thin rocky film on top and some thin lacing. Aroma is dry dark roasted malts with a hop nose. Smooth dark roasted malt and chocolate flavor. Palate is medium-bodied and refreshing, a little dry. punkeedo (465), San Antonio, Texas, USA

It was good...very dark with hints of chocolate. It also was very creamy and chocolatey. Overall, a good beer. Just drink this first...not after several others.
