Perhaps sampled too cold, as there was nil for aroma. The black body and attractive foaming drew me in to the surprising estery combo of watermelon, Vietnamese coffee, lemon/lime soda, and a hint of lactose on the finish. Body is substantial without being chewy, and it finishes neatly (if a bit thin and bubbly), leaving a tingly touch of alcohol, light pecans, and battery.

This one pours black with amber edges and a small offwhite head. The nose is rather weak, but there are hints of roasted grains. The taste is mild for a porter; it consists of a mild dark chocolate roastiness and only a hint of coffee and licorice - all too standard for this style. The hops in the end are only mild.

Black body with basically no head, just a ring of white bubbles. Roast chocolate/coffee aroma with light vanilla and light lactic acid. Keeping with the "light" trend on the flavor - roasted chocolate notes along with light noble-ish hops. Flavor is OK but unassertive.

Pours on the light side with large bubbles that dissipate quickly. Aroma of toffee and minimal soy. Flavor is bitterish with light coffee and an unripe grape element. The palate is clean and easy. Overall, a very drinkable and unassuming porter.

Bottle. Pours a brown-black with a medium sized tan head. Aroma is of roasty malts, light coffee, light toffee, and maybe some nuttiness. Taste follows suit, similar to the nose. Mouthfeel is thin to be sure, and the finish is a little roasty and lightly bitter. Not bad, but not all that great either.

On draft ... milky cream head on a solid black beer. Silky smooth, but with little character. Vague nuttiness with a bitter wood finish.
