Thin, almond-coloured head with a near opaque body. Good roasted malt and cocoa flavours but a very thin, watery body and short palate. Average. IndianaRed (1560), Boise, Idaho, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 11, 2004 Bottle Pours very dark (of course) with a nice light tan head and decent lacing. Aroma is semi-sweet chocolate, and coffee. Toasted and smokey. Very subdued flavors. Smooth quick finish. A bit thin and watery maybe but easy going down.
Easy finish. No hoppy bitterness. rhapsouldize (174), Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Jun 20, 2004 Meh. Kinda blah. Dark brown with a thin, light tan head that dissipated too soon. Weak aroma of roasted malts and mocha, but you really have to stick your nose in the glass in order to smell it. Extremely thin body, and there isn’t much of a taste; what’s there of the roasted maltiness is very weak. Little to no hoppiness. Rather drink a stout. SubstanceT (1090), Saint Louis, Missouri, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jun 20, 2004 Heh, whatever. Thin and somewhat wattery. Black with a thin brown head that is quickly discipating. The nose is malty with some roastedness to it just a hint of caramel. The same goes for the taste. I dont get it, that is porters, they all just can not do anything for me. But I will continue to give them a chance. beermatrix (1497), Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 3, 2004 Deep dark mahogany/ruby black color, thin cocoa brown head appears for a bit before fading to a thin collar and lacing sticks in spotty strings. Aroma has a slight burnt malt character to it with some singed sweet caramel and even brisker coffeeness underneath. Taste has a bit of crispness to it yet yields a smoothness thats enjoyable where it lacks in length it has some levels of interest. Blackened malts, a bit earthy, kinda burnt, mild sweetness from some caramel and vanilla cream, a bit astringent and chalky in the finish where slight coffee subdues but fades out quickly. Feel is close to medium, smooth over all with a crisp edge at first when cold, which is periodically left behind in some sips. Not as bold or as rich as it could be, seems to lack behind - more like its teasing you into thinking it could be good, go on take another sip, hmmm...nope still the same. Oh well, perhaps one of the better offerings by Redhook.

Very dark garnet to a light; pours a nice, rocky, brown head that unfortunately disappears. Heavy lacing. Roasty aroma with hints of coffee and licorice, but just not terribly appealing. Flavor is also roasty with coffee and a very light but harsh smokiness. Thin for a porter. Not impressive. brewshthereen (316), Oregon, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 19, 2004 Aroma is roasted and slighty fruity. Nice dark malt richness. A bit thin at the end. However, this is pleasant. Probably top Redhook I have had. walleye (881), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA
