Nitro draft. Almost black pour with some ruby color when held to light. Light cascading, not exactly Guinness like. Ivory head that wasn't the type you usually get with nitro. Smallish bubbles wanting to burst through the top. Smooth dry roasted coffee taste balanced nicely with mellow hop bitterness. Thin finish and mouthfeel.

Bottle pours a black with some amber tinge in direct light.   Small white bubbly head quickly fades.   Lacing seems adequate enough.   Faint aroma of roasted malt and chocolate.   Initial taste is of some slightly roasted malt, but it quickly checks out and becomes a mild grainy aftertaste.   Mouthfeel is a bit thin on this one.   Ever so slight bitterness after the finish and a bit too watery.   Definately not how I like my porters... robust.   I swear, Redhook has slipped over the years.   They need to bring back the DoubleBlack Stout, fer sure!

Draught (nitro) pours black as night, with an off-white milkish creamy head.   Lacing is extremely sticky.   Faint aroma of roasted malts.   Smooth mouthfeel, but perhaps a bit too thin.   Light hop profile and malts on the finish.   I much prefer this one on tap than in the bottle.

Dark, black appearance with nice head.Not a lot in terms of aroma--just faint traces of malt and chocolate.Went down smooth with no creaminess and very little carbonation. Not a whole lot of taste here. Thin-bodied and watery, overall not that good.

Draft, deep black with touch of brown, pretty head. Very little aroma. Smooth palate, smooth flavors, faintly roasty, some piney hops finally emerge on the finish. Not bad, just a bit too faint-hearted for my tastes.

on tap at brewery: beutiful nitro look, dense creamy head. pretty good tasting porter, not very complex. some slight chocolate toffe flavors and little hoppy afertaste. very easy to drink. remind me more of a stout?

Nitro Tap 2002. Very smooth, not challenging, medium body at best. Very clean with little finish or aftertaste. Good enough flavor though while it’s there. Quite sweet and drinkable. One of the first tap porters I really enjoyed, but after moving on to other similar beers and coming back, the magic had died. Looks great on tap. Slightly roasted aroma, with some lightly sweet malt.

pours with a frothy, good head, not lasting; obaque black color; roasted, slightly floral aroma; smokey, toasted, bitter taste, slighly metallic finish, lingering dry hoppines; medium-full body. Overall OK, a little too stoutlike for a porter, but pretty good; Deschutes Black Butte is way better, though...

Dark brown with ruby tints. Small tan head. Aroma is or roasted barley and mint chocolate. Roasty, malty and coffee flavors. Some hops in the finish. A decent porter.
