I purchased a sixer of bottles of this stuff at the same time I purchased a sixer of "Goose Island IPA" and, whereas the Goose Island IPA rocked, the Black Hook was strictly MOR easy-listening. Too thin and weak for a real porter, I'm not buying this one again.

Not bad, but overall a very weak porter that is really disappointing. I tried all the redhook styles at the Gwinnett Beer Festival and this really lost alot of points for me. Thin roasted flavor that has your typical chocolate and coffee taste, but is way watered down and weak.

Very thin. I want more body. Slight chocolate flavor. The malt was fairly weak. I agree with others that it is unspectacular.

Faint, yet rich roasted malt aroma. Opaque body with small, off-white head that is mostly diminishing. Excellent lace. Somewhat dry and chalky, but not much bite. Has some lactose notes. Gets better as it warms. Easy drinking; just not a mouthfeel worthy of a 5 for Palate. Not one of my favorite porters. No glaring flaws, but just not spectacular.

Yet another unspiring, boring porter that has nothing to differentiate itself from the others. Not very thick.

(Nitro: Draught) Thick, white head. Looks kind of like a Guiness. Very black color. Has roasty winish flavor. A lot more bitter than I expected. In fact, this is more like a guiness stout than a porter.

I've tried the bottle (w/out nitro) and the tap (with nitro) of this porter. The nitro is decent, the bottle was not. I'm rating the bottled version here. Roasted malt, alcohol flavors. The taste had an overall bitter sourness, not very pleasant at all. Much of my sixer went in the sink. This is no Anchor Porter here. Perhaps my 6 pack was old. The tap version was pretty nice.
