Ungstrup (11075), Frederiksberg, Denmark Sep 9, 2006 Updated: Oct 8, 2006A dark brown beer with a red shine, with a beige colored head, looking something like rising bread. The aroma is sweet with strong fruit notes as well as notes of caramel. The flavor is sweet malty with a light roasted note, that gives the beer a dryness which mixes in with notes of chocolate. I find it very light for a Porter (though not out of style), so I’m a bit disappointed in it taking the style and brewery into account.
I had Redhook Nitrogen Porter, I think at R.F.D. in DC - I guess it is the same beer just on nitro. I gave it one less in appearance and one less overall - and only deviation in my notes is a comparison to Guinness. Papsoe (9990), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 6, 2006 (Bottle 35,5 cl) Pours a dark mahogany with a reddish glow. Small, off-white head. Aroma of hard roasted malt. Medium-bodied with loads of hard roasted malt and some lightly burned accents. Vague bitter finish from the malt. 170406 Oakes (6853), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jan 5, 2001 Typical Redhook. Not bad, but not great. kp (6200), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Date: 03/07/1996
