Commercial Description:
Redhook Double Black Stout is the only beer of its kind in the world. Making the most of two well-known Northwest products, this extraordinary brew marries the sweet, smoothness of classic stout with the rich complexity of fine coffee. The recipe is a closely guarded secret.

From a bottle poured black with a small head. Nice malty flavor that is over powered by a coffee finish.

black pour with a tannish large bubble head that left a decent lace on the glass. aroma of light coffee with a taste to match. Clear coffee infusion and the bitterness is not surprising given the Starbucks.

Does taste a bit like coffee. Had to double check the label, and sure enough, it does say coffee on the label. Well, how do you like that. If you like malts, caramel, bitterness and lots of coffee, then this is for you. Really dark and roasted. Dark appearance naturally. Good lacing. Nose has chocolate, not coffee. Hmm... This is a good, "Hey I want a single bottle of stout that’s good to just drink."

Bottle. Very black color. Small off white head. Nice coffee aroma, roasted malts. Flavor is chocolate, coffee, light, but drinkable. Slight bitterness from roasted malts.

Pours black with light brown head. Aromas of roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. Burnt malt flavor dominates with some bitter coffee grounds flavor also. Slightly acidic. Full body with minimal carbonation and a creamy, oily mouthfeel.

Bomber at home on March 10, 2009. Solid black color with light brown, very frothy (billowy) head. Aroma of chocolate malt and light coffee. Reasonably light mouthfeel with hints of coffee beans (no Folgers, that is) at the back of the throat. Full, and bitter on the tongue. More hopcoffee presence on aftertaste. Damn good.

From a 22 oz bottle this poured a very black color with a nice sized and long lasting tan head that left glue like lacing rings. Nose of chocolate and coffee. Very rich and creamy mouthfeel. Flavor is of roasted malts and there is a little hop bitterness that also shows up in the finish. A really nice stout.

Pours black into an English pint. Mocha head with good retention pancakes and craters as it recedes leaving spider lacing. Cocoa and espresso aromas. Thin with coffee and dark chocolate front to back. Lasting espresso finish.
