Commercial Description:
Redhook Double Black Stout is the only beer of its kind in the world. Making the most of two well-known Northwest products, this extraordinary brew marries the sweet, smoothness of classic stout with the rich complexity of fine coffee. The recipe is a closely guarded secret.

Darker brown with a big coffee aroma - probably of Southeast Asian or African variety. Flavor is big on the coffee with a hint of earth and chocolate. By far the best Redhook brew I’ve had.

Surprisingly solid offering.. Viscous black pour with a thick tan head. Coffee, roast, and chocolate on the nose. Thick bodied. Flavor profile very similar to the nose. Very surprised at the hoppy finish. I might actually buy more of this considering its price.

Thick black pour with little head. Great aroma of coffee and chocolate malt. Taste is thick and oily with a big dry coffee, bitter chocolate bite. Solid stout.

Aroma is musty with hints of roasted coffee beans and chocolate. Pours a nice dark black with a fluffy mocha head that didn’t last very long. Nice lacing left on the glass. Flavor is earthy as well, with roasted malts, coffee, caramel and hops. A nice hop finish. Very nice stout.

Bottle.

Really, really solid. Big rich coffee-stout aroma, really terrific, and a lovely intense roasty flavor that very close to lives up to the aroma. Neither too sweet or too ashy. Definitely a strong stout rather than an imperial stout, and definitely far ahead of my expectations. Nice beer!

Thanks bro. Pours a dark black color with a medium mocha head. Aroma is roasted coffee, dark malt, and some sweet chocolate. Taste is bitter chocolate, coffee, and some dark malts. Decent.

Pours a deep black color with medium frothy white head. Aroma is of light semi sweet chocolate, coffee, and roasted malt. Taste is bitter chocolate, stale cold coffee and roasted dark malts. Finishes lighly astringent but otherwise smooth. Not bad.

This is the first Redhook beer I have bought in many years, I used to drink the ESB. Dark black, no surprises and no head. It smells very stouty which I know is not an adjective but I’m making it one. Very stouty, roasty, indicative of the flavor which follows and mimics the aroma. The finish is bitter coffee. This is surprisingly better than I expected, good job Redhook. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 11-29-2008 02:39:34
