| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 18, 2009 Bottle. Moderate malt notes of grain, milk chocolate and mild coffee, light hop and yeast smells of herbs and earth, with hints of cola and raw green vegetables. Head is creamy, light brown with fair lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is deep dark brown. Flavor starts lightly sweet and acidic, and a touch sour, then finishes moderately bitter. Palate is medium, watery with a bit of creaminess and has a carbonation between soft and lively. It finishes a little metallic. Nice aromas, but a little flat on flavor, still a good Stout. Pitch black pour with a small tan head. Sticky lacing. Aroma is strong coffee, dark chocolate and dark, roasted malts. Taste is coffee laden with more dark, roasted malts and more dark chocolate flavors. Rather bittersweet. Body is thick and creamy with light carbonation feel. Ends with more strong coffee notes, dark chocolate and dark roasted malts. Though labeled as an Imperial Stout this really isn’t though it is strong in its own regard. mephisto (1144), Taiwan

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jan 13, 2009 Near black pour from a 22oz, cold. Meduim bron head that goes away quickly. Aroma of roasted malts and , of course, coffee. Surprisingly robust dark malt and hop balance! Coffee is apparent as well as a =slight chocolate and pine tar. There’s almost a hint of vanilla and peach way up in the back. This is a very drinkable stout and deceptively light in the mouth. Kudos to Red Hook! JMFG (1514), Florida, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 12, 2009 The coffee flavor takes a second to hit you - it’s not immediate. But when it does hit, it is strong and bitter in its deliciousness. Additional notes of chocolate, molasses, and nutty roasted malts. Very smooth and enjoyable. blklab2007 (974), Connecticut, USA
