Commercial Description:
Redhook Double Black Stout is the only beer of its kind in the world. Making the most of two well-known Northwest products, this extraordinary brew marries the sweet, smoothness of classic stout with the rich complexity of fine coffee. The recipe is a closely guarded secret.

Bomber. Aroma smelled like an ashtray and grocery chain coffee grain. Black body with foamy tan head that leaves some good lace. Cheap roasted coffee flavor and a creamy texture pesent at times. Also abit watery at times little complexing creamy-watery, creamy watery. Dry coffee aftertaste on palate. Odd brew concidering the changing flavors and bland aroma.

courtesy of our jolly Gillard. Batch 08-0410 Pours black with beige head. Aroma of light chocolate and earthly hops. Enjoyable coffee nose. Taste light coffee and bitter chocolate malts. Overall mouthfeel is very light and weak roasted coffee. I am in no rush to have them put this beer out again. They might want to put it on another 8 year hiatus and tweak their recipe.

22oz bottle. Batch 08-0410. Served in a shaker pint. Poured a deep brown/black with two fingers of tan head. Plenty of coffee along with some cocoa in the aroma. Lots more coffee in the flavor. Initial malt sweetness. Medium bodied. Dry finish of coffee. The coffee flavor was not overly bitter like some some of the coffee beers I have had recently. Decent beer, good price. I am glad they brought this back, I remember the original version.

Thanks Gillard for the share. Pours a dark brown with a nose of coffee, chocolate, malt, and dusty bitterness. Flavor has black licorice, biscuity malt, with water and coffee. A bit underwhelming for the flavors that the aroma gives off. Finish is coffee bitterness.

Pours a dark brown with nice sized brown head. Chocolate, coffee and roasted malt on the nose. Flavor is much the same with a hint of white pepper that shows up towards the end. Body is kind of light for the style, but flavor is rather nice. Really finishes rather dry.

Bottle courtesy of Gillard. Pours a dark brown to black color with a thin white head. Aroma is malty and has notes of cola, floral spice, coffee, chocolate, subtle ripe dark fruit and candy sugar notes. Flavor is disappointing after a very enticing nose. Notes of roasted malt, coffee and a slight hop presence. Generally watery mouthfeel with a slightly bitter coffee finish.

Moderate mix of coffee and licorice. Black color with a small tan head. Light sweetness in the beginning getting bitter in the finish. Palate is light.
