Commercial Description:
Redhook Double Black Stout is the only beer of its kind in the world. Making the most of two well-known Northwest products, this extraordinary brew marries the sweet, smoothness of classic stout with the rich complexity of fine coffee. The recipe is a closely guarded secret.

Batch 08-0410 Pitch black beer with a thick tan head. Aroma is very rich and chocolatey. Loads of soft milk chocolate and cocoa. A very light sweetness and a bit of cream and vanilla as well. Light toasty back notes behind the sweet milk chocolate. A bit of soft earthiness and a light flinty bitterness. Soft espresso roastiness and a rich bitterness. Pretty awesome beer.

Portland Holiday Ale Fest 2008. Dark brown/almost black, with a tall khaki head. Sweet dark chocolate up front, good roastiness. Finish has a soft coffee note and a light hint of peanut butter. Overall pretty nice stout, definitely a bit on the sweet side, but I enjoy sweeter stouts.

Bomber from Bevmo La Jolla. Bottle Says Imperial Stout, I think I had a candle of this beer from College. Pours black with a light brown head. Nose is sweet with lots of coffee. Taste is sweet and rich with a good rich coffee kick. Pretty tasty.

Coffee is pronounced, chocolates, nutty, and a little salty. A good stout, but nothing to get real excited about.

22oz bottle. Dark black pour with a tan head. Big coffee aroma, chocolate as well, nice dark malt roastiness. Very smooth flavor, light coffee notes and a slight bitterness in the end. Not too bad.

22oz bottle from armenettis.....pours close to black with dark brown adges and a thin off-white head..... aroma of coffee, roasted malt, and chocolate. everything as expected.... flavors followthrough mostly and the finish is a little bitter. medium carbonation. decent all around but would easily prefer founders breakfast over this any day of the week.

Pours out black with a small slightly lacing tan head. Aroma is heavy coffee and some sweet candy-bar chocolate. Bit watery on the palate, lots of coffee, roasted malt, and some chocolate sweetness, overall the sweetness was a little too much, its like when you put a few too many sugar packets in your coffee. Overall not bad.

Black with a thin tan head. Aroma is lightly roasty, licorice, old burnt coffee, faint smoke. Taste is light coffee, chocolate, light alcohol, roasty.
