Commercial Description:
Redhook Double Black Stout is the only beer of its kind in the world. Making the most of two well-known Northwest products, this extraordinary brew marries the sweet, smoothness of classic stout with the rich complexity of fine coffee. The recipe is a closely guarded secret.

db Double Black Stout with Coffee, Batch 08 0410 pours black with a nice off white head with nice lace. The aroma is coffee, high quality chocolate, and perhaps some lactic notes. The flavor is very roasted with some chocolate leaning towards the darker side, some lactic and sour hints, peat perhaps, and kind of an over the top coffee bitterness that does not add but rather detracts from an otherwise decent effort. Overall, could be better, but works OK.

Dark black pour with rocky, tan/red head. Roasted coffee aroma with chocolate. Full bodied with medium carbonation. Coffee and chocolate flavor as well, which contributes to a lot of bitterness. Light citrus hop presence. Somewhat sweet. I almost wish it was a bit sweeter to even out the roasty bitterness from all the coffee. Good enough brew though.

Bottle. Very powerful coffee and chocolate aroma. Almost black body, brown head. Delicious semi-sweet chocolate flavor, lots of coffee, just the right touch of smokiness. Well-balanced finish. Excellent stout.

Bottle Pours out a dark brown topped with a tan head. Aroma of roast and light coffee. Tast of coffee, bitter chocolate. A pretty tasty brew.

Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is of roasted malt, coffee, artificial chocolate, and vanilla. Taste is bitter strong coffee, roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, and some nut. Thick, creamy mouthfeel that goes down easy. Aside from the bitter coffe bite, the flavors are very weak for the first few sips. Eventually the coffee subsides, and all the other flavors come through. Drinkable, but not one of the best.

Had this beer while watching the Vikings trounce the Bears on Sunday Night Football. Poured a deep dark brown in color with a small tan head. Roasted coffee aroma. Not much for flavor other than coffee taste. Slighlty creamy. Very dry finish. This was without a doubt a good beer but I really expected more even though it is from Redhook.

Good color but very little head. Smells like black coffee. This is actually pretty good. Some coffee to it, but a lot of roastiness as well. First beer from Red Hook that I really like.
