Jet opaque black pour. Dark chocolatey aged aroma , some dark fruitiness comes out too. Big cofee both in flavor and aroma. Bitter finish, either from coffee and or hops. Some toffee and prunes too. Considering it’s age, it held up most excellently. oldrtybastrd (1846), Morlautern, Germany/Great Falls, Montana, USA

Flavor was typically stout with a huge presence of roasted malts and finished with great coffee taste. Great Stout!!! CaptainCougar (5544), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 10, 2005 22oz bottle from 1998 courtesy of cquiroga: Pours a nearly opaque black with dark brown edges and a thin tan head. Aroma has some vinous notes and dark chocolate roastiness. Body starts with nice malty sweetness turning more dry toward a strong coffee bitter finish with a touch of dark chocolate. Lots of coffee flavor throughout adds a nice balance to the sweet malt. There is a little oxidation, but I would’ve guessed this was maybe three years old, tops. There is still plenty of carbonation. It looks like it’s aged really well. Thanks Chris! ebarnes (220), Indianapolis, Indiana, USA

Poured a very dark brown with a gold tint and thin tan head. Vinous aroma with notes of prunes, coffe grinds, and alcohol. Roasted malt flavor up front with black coffee bitterness on the finish. Warming with a smooth mouthfeel and light carbonation. 11026 (1772), Alabama, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 30, 2005 Bottle from Eyedrinkale. Deep black color. Tan to brownish head. Roasted grain and coffee aroma’s rise off of this beer. Medium bodied, smooth, a bit chalky. Nice coffee flavors still circulate around chocolate and a bit of over roasted grain. Nice. Black with an tan/orange head and a coffee aroma. Taste whacks you with coffee right away but settles back a bit while the hops take over a bit. Smooth like a dopplebock. Some sweetness with a nice roasted and smokey taste. Some dried fruits noticed as the temp comes up a bit. Finishes clean enough with a dryness. Really good.
