Commercial Description:
Redhook Double Black Stout is the only beer of its kind in the world. Making the most of two well-known Northwest products, this extraordinary brew marries the sweet, smoothness of classic stout with the rich complexity of fine coffee. The recipe is a closely guarded secret.

Color? Big surprise deep black with minimal head. Aroma is sweet raisins Coffee really emerges at the finish with the chewy hoppiness and coffee lingers for a while.

22oz Bottle from Dchmela and his Sixpack Shipper. Big creamy dark malty with a great roasted finish. I like this beer!

Pours a deep chocolate brown with little head. Aroma of mostly roasted coffee. More bitter coffee in the flavor, with notes of baker’s chocolate, roasted malts, and some hops. Finishes bittersweet. Tasty stuff.

Very dark brown with deep crimson highlights and a small tan head. Aroma is dominated by coffee, but there is some cocoa, a lactic twang, and a touch of acetone. Flavor is bitter coffee and unsweetened chocolate, with an astringent, chalky finish. Not a whole lot of depth here. Fairly substantial body with moderate carbonation. I was surprised to see the scores this one got, I wasn’t impressed.

Not too strong. Light and balanced with some coffee and dark cocoa. SOme nic elight bitterness. I feel this one has changed over time.

Very mild aroma... was expecting a more potent coffee smell, disappointed. Clear black pour, very little head. Tastes of semi-sweet chocolate and coffee, although mild flavors. Has a thick feel to it. I thought this beer was nice, but in this category it wasn’t anything special. I’d much rather have the Rogue chocolate or Brooklyn chocolate stout.

Very smooth drinking, great coffee aroma/taste. Nothing too out of the box, but a very nice coffee stout.

Black pour with vivacious tan head. Aroma is of roasty chocolate malt and some coffee. Flavor is much the same- somewhat of a cookie cutter example of the style- nothing special to bring to the table. What it did, however, it did well. Palate is rich and thick, carbonation is medium.
