Good for a session beer or just something not too fancy to bring to a friend’s bbq. mgoy (343), Oak Brook, Illinois, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 5, 2008 Graduation weekend on tap at the upstairs pub in Bloomington Indiana. Redhook ESB is a copper colored beer with a quickly disapearing head. The aroma is light with hops and citrus and the flavor is sweet with hops and citrus aftertaste. This has a dry finish and is not memorable. baileyuk (11), Wixom, Michigan, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | May 4, 2008 Had a enjoy by date which I liked, I have had a few beers recently that I think have aged, and not well, recently.
Ap: Poured a slighlty hazed amber color, a little on the light side. The head was decent although settled quickly to a very light covering.
Ar: Malty and Fruity
F: A slightly unpleasant earthy taste outweighs a pleasant fruity taste.
P: Great carbonation level, went down pleasantly.
Drinkability: An okay beer, but not a great and I am not sure if I would revisit. The earthy tones were not for me. Could probably put a few back without being too dissapointed but there is too much better beer to try. zappafan99 (462), South Carolina, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 3, 2008 Updated: Sep 7, 2008Nice session bitter. Malt isn’t hidden by the hops. Even and smooth. Not as good as Brutul bitter by Rogue, but it is half the price.I’ll buy it again. msante79 (841), Orland Hills, Illinois, USA

| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Apr 29, 2008 reddish, coper colored body, off-white bubbles floating on the surface, with slight lacing. aroma is mostly air. flavor has caramelly tones, but no citrus, hops, or even malt. creamy palate, with no detectable bitterness in the finish. at only 5.77% abv, i was obviously expecting too much from this beer to begin with. by the way, a preposition is something i will never end a sentence with. Poured a light copper color. Head was about an inch and left a nice lacing down the sides of the glass. The hops were very evident in the aroma, but I had to deduct a few points because I also noticed some "off" aromas. The taste was wonderfully hoppy, but not too bitter. The hops flavor remains through the aftertaste, but not much else. Overall, I think this is a well-balanced ESB and I would definitely buy it again. kassner (466), Wexford, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 27, 2008 This is a really nice beer. i usually have this in draft on Bald Head Island, but had to settle for a bottle in KY on visit.
Full of malf, obvious from opening the bottel, but really well balance with not too much carbonation, great golden amber color, and enough hops to finsh well.
