| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Mar 5, 2008 amber / gold color with no head to speak of. smells more sour than bitter. taste is more sour than bitter also. more like bad fruit than bitter.slight hint of hops. not sure if I like this or not. I think this is more like a low end fruit beer than a bitter but maybe they were going for something a bit different? afireinside96 (839), Mountville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 5, 2008 bottle. pours an amber color with thin off-white head. smells more like an APA than a bitter, all hops no malt in the nose. taste is similar. you can tell it wants to be a bitter but leans more toward pale ale country. thin malt backbone with bitter hops prevalent. doesn’t taste bad, it just doesn’t adhere to the style it is labeled. also a bit too carbonated for an ESB.
why can the English pull this style off so effortlessly when no American craft brewery can seem to get a grip on the heart and balance of this style? ZiggyG (131), Gladstone, Oregon, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 2, 2008 Bottle. Pours a nice caramel. Nose is of sour malts and earthy hops. Taste is a nice strong malt presence with old world hops coming out at the end. More sour than bitter. Palate is pretty full with med-low carbonation give it a nice coating effect on the mouth. I’m new to this style (more of an APA, IPA guy usually) but I like it. jeffwilliams11 (310), hooterville, Michigan, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 24, 2008 Pours an amber body with an okay head. The aroma is a bit malty and doughy. The flavor is really solid though with a pleasant bite of hops and sweetness. It has a nice easy-going, smoothness about it. It’s always at the pub here, so it’s always a nice fallback to have. marano35 (22), Bay Minette, Alabama, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 24, 2008 Poured from a bottle. Poured a medium amber color with about a one inch white head. Head melded to a nice ring. Had a very rich hearty aroma, I felt was malty with a hint of bread dough. Had a light mouthfeel. Nice malty flavor that finished just slightly bitter. I thought I liked it so I had two more to make sure. I do like it. A good session beer...translation...compliments internet porn nicely. epf33 (222), Fairfax, Virginia, USA
