| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Nov 26, 2007 12oz bottle. pours clear copper with soapy white head. nose is a pretty sweet toffee. flavor is way too sweet for an esb, lots of caramel and some dark fruits. pretty buttery too. light body. no hop flavor. an esb should not be undrinkable and this is too sweet for me. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 13, 2007 Updated: Apr 22, 2008I have finally tried this micro-brewery icon and am neither impressed nor disappointed. It is nothing great, but it is a good, solid beer that improves during the drink and goes very well with food. It is light amber with almost no head at the start but this lasts and leaves a little weak lacing. The aroma is mild, hint of caramel and grain but mostly apple juice. The taste is malt, grain, apple juice, a hint of sweetness. At 1st it seems too bitter and drying on the toungue, but this goes away after the 1st couple sips, with all mellowing out and blending togther into a solid, drinkable beer with a fairly well rounded body. The flavour lasts and stays good over time and it has a grain aftertaste. DJC (238), USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Nov 11, 2007 Bright copper body, with a quickly-diminishing head. Splotchy lacing. The aroma was balanced, yet on the faint side. The flavor could definitely have been more balanced, as I feel the hops are too pronounced for the style. The mouthfeel was good, though. Overall, I’ve had much better ESBs, so I doubt I’ll purchase this one again. CasperQuaffer (142), Casper, Wyoming, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Nov 8, 2007 Pours light copper with an interesting, but short lived beige head. Aroma is strong earthy malt. Hops are smooth with a pleasant, citrusy clean aftertaste. Body is well rounded with a bit of fizz.
