Not quite enough carbonation. May have been a bad bottle but seemed a little flat. jhumphries69 (730), Tyrone, Georgia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 5, 2007 Pours a nice, deep orangey gold with a thin off-white head. The aroma has some yeast, some toffee and caramel, and some mellow hops. The flavor is nicely balanced - caramel and sweet malts with a touch of roasted grain along with a nice presence of balancing hops. The finish has a nice, mellow bitterness with an aftertaste of hops and caramel. The mouthfeel is creamy, it is medium in body, and it has a decent zip of carbonation. Overall, this is a nice session beer. robforbes (1099), Bremerton, Washington, USA

I have since drifted away from ESBs, but this is generally an OK version of the type. Nothing special in the flavor, with some bitterness. A good beginner’s micro. buckybeer (666), Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Jul 28, 2007 I’ve always shied away from ESBs, but I did want to try this. I was not disappointed. Pours copper with a foamy off-white head. Nice lacing. Aroma is slight, but malty. Heavy, chewy on the palate. Lots of matliness up front with a bit of sweetness. Finishes somewhat bitter with some piney notes. Not bad. A little bitter for my taste, but a good beer.
