Aroma is a bit of bready malt, some hop. Taste more of the bready malt, finishes with good clean hop bitterness. Overall, quite drinkable though not extraordinary. charcot25 (181), Cordova, Tennessee, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jun 26, 2007 Pours a nice copper with a minimal off-white head. Mild carbonation as appropriate to the style. Aroma is muted somewhat with a mild maltiness and earthy hop note. Taste is dominated by the maltiness with some resinous hop flavor. Finishes slightly bitter. A good session beer but not as good as I remember. Bradrcr (781), Renton, Washington, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 26, 2007 Updated: Sep 12, 2007Blueline ESB: On Draught at Washington Brewers Festival; was told this is only available on tap at the Woodinville brewery. Aroma is hop foward, but has the same caramel notes in the background as the original. Appearance is cloudy, darker copper, with an off-white head. Flavor is a fairly well balanced hop/malt blend that differs very little from the original, save some light floral tones I don’t remember. Body seemed lighter than the original as well. Despite being hoppier, this reminded me more of an english pale than an american ESB. 6/15/07 Had from bottle. Aroma is heavy malt forward, with some reasonable complexity and decent hop background. Beer has a fluffy white head, slightly uneven. Clear copper color. Flavor is sweet, caramel malt forward, earthly, with med bittering and a dry finish. Some slight resiny tones, but not objectionable. Aftertaste lingers, very even profile with the flavor. Medium carbonation feel, meduim-full bodied. Some slightly grainy textures and light warmth. Overall, this is my biggest comeback beer. Five years ago I couldn’t stand it and thought it always tasted so oxidized and almost metallic. I even tried a two year old bottle the other day and didn’t get any of the flavors that used to bug me so much; hope it stays that way. stefanje (947), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jun 23, 2007 12 oz bottle. Rich copper-amber color, light unimpresive head. Hoppy aroma. Thick malts & bitter hops dominate taste. Clean crisp mouthfeel. Finishes long. A very good everyday beer choice. aubreya (676), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 19, 2007 The color is yellow/light brown. The head was thin, fizzy, and off-white. The aroma was light malt, but lacking for the most part. The flavor was coppery, some alcohol, and a little dry. The palate was thin/medium bodied and smooth. The finish was fairly clean. A deep amber color with a thick head. Loved the hoppy and malty aroma the light bitter flavor was good liked the finish as it was not too dry. The bittter tatse was light and just right in my book but as for style needed to be a tad more bitter. GuyCuba (15), USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 10, 2007 A very good bitter ale. Flavor is a bit restrained, but there’s a nice bit of hop taste and a good nose and palate. Would go very well with fried food.

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 2, 2007 THis is a little lighter body than many ESB’s. Pours a beautiful copper color, with a mild to moderate nose. Typical ale here with a rusty malt character that is reminiscent of the style. The bittlerness is mild, but overall a decent drink. It’s nothing to get excited about.
