Aroma is of citrus hops, caramel, sweet malts, grassy tones, and some yeast. Flavor starts off with grassy tones, caramel, and sweet malts and finishes with the citrus and floral hops. A somewhat bitter finish but not what I was expecting. Flavor doesn’t linger very long. tmfi (27), Gainesville, Florida, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 8, 2007 Pours a great golden hue with a thin white, smell is very subtle, taste is light and airy, not typical for the style they claim for this brew, yet it is still a very nice ale. verstellung77 (16), Charleston, West Virginia, USA

Gorgeous tawny red colour. Very pretty to look at. Light malty flavour, slight carmal sense with nice bite of bittering hops. Pours a nice butterscotch coloured tight bubbled head which dissipates rather quickly. Slight lacing on the glass walls. Very nice session beer....almost a English Mild but just enough hop bittering to move it to the Special Biiter...not sure about the Extra though.... IMtheOptimator (1161), Bethel, Connecticut, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 7, 2007 On tap at Outback Steakhouse. Poured a semi-cloudy amber with an off-white head which left nice parallel lacing on the glass. Aroma of light toffee and a bit of grassy hops. Taste is mildy sweet with a bit of caramel and some grassy hoppiness with a dry toffee-ish finish. Not complex, but easy-drinking and fairly pleasant. rickgordon (3319), Göteborg, Sweden

Amber colour, pretty low head. Light resiny aroma with toffee and citric hops. Buttery toffee flavour with low malt character with hints of caramel. Finish is medium bitter. Cajun (144), New Iberia, Louisiana, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Apr 1, 2007 Bottle - Amber with thin head. Soft malt and hop notes. Flavors of sweet malt, some caramel, dried grain, bitter hops finish. An average beer. Still, I’m not sure of the style qualification, but I’ll take RB’s word that its a premium bitter/esb. | 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Mar 28, 2007 Boring. Not an ESB nor definately not a premium bitter. Unremarkable. The best thing about this is the way it looks. truegen (165), Puyallup, Washington, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 27, 2007 I have a soft spot for this beer because it was the first local micro I ever tried. It was far better back in the early 80s. Love the deep amber color, but the hop profile is a little too citrusy, rather than the more floral taste you expect in an ESB. I still like it, but some of that could be nostalgia.
