The bitter takes a long time to grow accustomed to but its very nice. Bitters are very nice and crisp. Highly recommended if you want a bitter beer DaveB (73), Holyoke, Massachusetts, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Mar 2, 2007 On tap Harpoon Harry’s, Fort Myers. My other choices were Coors and Bud. Dark golden color. Medium head. Not too bitter. A little too heavy for my taste. Not an all night drinking beer. gunnfryd (3603), Kristiansand, Norway

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 27, 2007 From a bottle purchased at the local Safeway in Eureka, this poured an attractive light copper color with a nice white head that faded fairly quickly and left decent lacing. Nose is mostly hops with some citrus. Mouthfeel clean and crisp, and favor is malts and a nice bitter hops. Finish is just about right for a bitter with just the correct amount of bite. This is a great middle of the road beer that should please people who like brews to be uncomplicated. blastoff (21), Alabama, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 23, 2007 Good, but far from great. Not very bitter. Not much of a head. Enjoyable aarossell (151), Grandville, Michigan, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Feb 21, 2007 Two bottles: the first was fine. the second was awful. Inconsistent? Tasted like metal, and some bad beer. Otherwise, the first was an interesting take on esb...much sweeter, yet cornish. I’ll pass. CelticBrew (705), The Crystal Coast, North Carolina, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 20, 2007 Pours out a nice neutral golden amber forming a nice white foamy head. Aroma of hops and wet forrest. Flavor is of a nice malty and hop that balance well with a bitter ending. Pretty good beer, could see this as a great sessionable beer during all times of the year. Not on the same level as say Rogue’s Brutal Bitter, but keeping everything in perspective, its a good bitter that is easily obtainable. Red Hook produces decent quality beers that are readily available to the average joe. Much better that the swill from AB and the other mega’s, but not exactly in the same sphere as the micro’s that are now "the" beers and ales to truly experience. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 20, 2007 Hazy golden color, light tan head, some very tiny bubbles mixed with some larger soapy ones. Fruity, citrusy, grapefruit aroma. Heavy hoppy flavors mixed with a sweet malty base. Sweet-but-bitter flavor profile, very well-balanced. Good stuff.
