Sep 30, 2004 Amber color with a medium head. Odd aroma of malt and hops, not your usual blend. Fairly dry taste from the hops. They are not as present as the hops in a Pale, but they are enough to say "Hi, how ya doin?" I really don’t want this kind of presence in my Oktoberfest.

Sep 21, 2003 On draught at the Winking Lizard Tavern in Columbus, OH. This beer is an orange-red color with a medium light beige head. Aroma is very sweet malt and caramel. More rich that I was expecting, with an almost syrupy texture. The flavor leans to the sweet side as well, with lots of malt and caramel. Luckily there is enough hops in the finish to keep it from going overboard, but I think it would be a lot better with more hops in the flavor to counterbalance the sweet side.

Aug 21, 2005 Starchy. Dry. Good appearance, and refreshing ice cold. Edgy hop presence. Nice bronze coloring. It’s 106° here in Phoenix, and this hit the spot. That said, it’s not a spectacular beer.

Oct 12, 2002 Updated: Oct 12, 2003Re-Rate - 2003 - This had such a wonderfull malt kick - medium sweet - bith a great chunk of chocolate at the finish, a nice amount of hop for balance - I would call it a lighter version of St.Rogue Red. (Winking Lizard Draft - 10/10/2003) -2002 - smelled like pie (apple/caramel). First few sips were o.k., but then got way tooooo syrupy - caramel, sweet malts, very lightly hopped. one of the lesser fest beers.

Sep 8, 2003 Pours with an amber body topped by a thin off-white head with some lacing. Slighlty sweet malty aroma with a touch of graininess and some hoppiness. Well balanced flavor leaning towards hoppy with a slight bitterness. Light to medium bodied and smooth.
