Aroma is all sweet malt, with a slight fruity character in the background. Flavor again all sweet malt, but has a certain astringency to it, quite the turnoff. Really don’t get any hop presence whatsoever. Pretty basic amber. maniac (2628), Richmond, Virginia, USA

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Sep 12, 2006 This is a beer enjoyed at the Capital House in Richmond. The color was a deep amber and a modest head. The malt flavors were very evident. There was not much exciting about this beer. It was pleasant but the hops flavors were minor. Rib Eye (143), USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 12, 2006 Another winner from Redhook, one of the most dependable craft brewers out there. A solid product every time. This is neat twist on an amber ale. It’s intially creamy, almost buttery tasting, but finishes with a really clean kiss of hops. Very drinkable. jrmac (213), USA

It;s light and refreshing with just the right amount of hop flavor. Five times better then the ESB. mbeem (104), New Hope, Alabama, USA

Pours a beautiful amber with a 1 finger foamy, white head that dissipated quickly into a thin layer over the top. Roasted malt nose with caramel and a hint of hops. Good flavor! Subtle hop presence along with some nutty tones to complement the malty. Crisp, abrupt finish. Quite a surprising brew! OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA

Aromas of citrus hops over caramel malts. flavor is quite more in your face.. Good father son discussion occurs around the malts. Then the son pops back.. Hops. Lots of them assult the palate before the finish where the closers come in and seal the deal. Nice brew..
