daknole (1117), Plantation, Florida, USA Oct 10, 2008 Bottle from total wine. Crystal clear amber pour with a decent sized whitish head. Aroma is very malty with some hints of toast, crackers and grains. Flavor is pretty nice actually. Smooth and malty without being too malty. Hops are barely present. Better than I expected.

marcus (1116), Sacramento, California, USA Nov 29, 2008 This reddish orange ale poured with a fluffy off-white head and a caramel aroma. The flavor is heavy roasted malt with a raspy bitter finish. talon1117 (436), Bellvue, Colorado, USA Nov 29, 2008 Pours a sparkling clear, orangey color with a fairly small, off-white, and fizzy head which is mostly diminishing and leaves minimal lace. Nose is faint with typical Saaz spice, faint toasted caramel, and hints at other spices (nutmeg?). Flavor is akward with the spicy and lightly rustic hop notes clashing with the light, rich caramel; other notes of light toasted breads and faint nuttiness. Palate is light to medium, lively, and thin. Finishes short with the moderately light bitterness lingering beyond the caramel sweetness. The hops and the malts do not match whic is a shame because the malt base could have been good. Not the best from RH. thejoeshow (165), Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA Nov 27, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours a lighter amber color with a nice big frothy off white head. There is very nice lacing and excellent head retention also. The nose is rather faint but I do pick up a dosing of spices. Typical autumn beer spices nutmeg, all spice and such, giving it that pumpkin pie aroma with a little hops at the end. Flavor is a little expected but not bad. It is a nice malty red ale with a dash of the above spices. There is no over powering spice profile going on like you get with most autumn or pumpkin beers. Just a little underlying flavor that plays off the base beer. Very nice and sessionable. The mouth isn’t too heavy but it has enough to suit. Good sesonal. zach8270 (1470), Henrietta, New York, USA Nov 19, 2008 (bottle - 12 oz) Slightly hazy copper color with a puffy white head. Aroma is light and hoppy with some citrus and a light nutty note. Flavor is smooth and a bit nutty at the beginning with a nice blend of light hops and flowers. Some citrus near the end that has a slight malt sweetness. Aftertaste is a bit bitter and lasts for a few minutes.
