Alround rating: Excellent balance, lychee, grapefruit, a solid IPA, excellent hop character and super dirnkable. Im monumentally suprized by a score this low, perhaps the bottles are pasturised? | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 15, 2008 Bottle from Canals. A thin bodied IPA that leaves little to the imagination. There is nothing out standing here it is average at best and thats not a horrible thing. jb (1057), Rochester, New York, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 13, 2008 Probably the best I’ve had from Redhook. Orange with great lacing. Left rings along the way as I drank it. Very strong pine and grapefruit notes both present. Not much malt as per IPA, but very moist, smooth, silky mouthfeel. Enjoyable. daknole (3000), Scottsdale, Arizona, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Sep 12, 2008 Bottle. Hmmm is this an IPA or a bland Pale Ale? I would have expected more out of this beer. However if it were in the pale ale category it would probably score fairly high...it tastes good just too damn light to be a true IPA. Oh well. troyc (1175), Lubbock, Texas, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 8, 2008 (Bottle) Pours a golden color with a thin head. Faint aroma of hops, with some dust and grain in there as well. A very mild IPA to say the least. The flavor wasn’t bad, as it was a pretty balanced beer. However, the hint of decent hop notes was completely negated by the malty body and light palate. Personally, I think this is a good ’IPA starter’ beer to introduce to my pale lager loving friends. overall impression:
it’s important not to pigeon hole IPA’s, but this honestly (OBJECTIVELY) wasn’t my favorite beer. it seemed to have all of the bitter and negative qualities of an IPA without all of the wonderfully robust flavors and "kick you ass" kick. Looks BEAUTIFUL, but that doesn’t carry weight if it doesn’t taste good.
I wouldn’t pay to drink this again. stchloe (491), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 1.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 3/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 4/20 | Sep 7, 2008 Hardly worthy of being an IPA, the hops are weak at best. Bland and light body.
