Commercial Description:
Everything great that was ever built required a long hammer. A trusty tool used by ordinary ordinary men to make extraordinary things. Transcontinental train tracks. Impossible pipelines. Soaring skyscraper. Long Hammer IPA puts this bold spirit in a bottle. And like its namesake, it's a beer built to stand the test of time.

Pours a hazy golden with shades of orange. Creamy head. Very hoppy smell and taste. Floral, sweet, tart, its all there but nothing special. All the hop flavors seem to fall within a certain range so there is nothing exciting about this one. Very average IPA.

This comes out of the tap a pretty transparent golden with a fairly thick, fine-bubbled white head. Aroma is hoppy and slightly fruity. Flavor is strong and quite hoppy, not all that bitter. Texture has something of an edge, but it is not overly rough. Not the best IPA I have had, but worth a try.

I didn’t come in expecting much from this beer. It pours a very light golden color. Has a floral with slight astringent. Taste is lightly citrus hops, and a bit soapy. Very thin for an ipa, with a lot of carbonation. Overall, I’m not impressed, nor have I been by any red hook beer.

Tried at the 2008 NRA Trade show in Chicago. Not too impressed. Nice hops flavor but fairly one dimensional. Strong and effective but nothing compared to Bells 2 Hearted Ale.

Wow, what a funny beer. It tasted like soap. Not really an IPA, but what would you expect from Red Hook. Nothing special.

A surprisingly good IPA from Red Hook. Very nice hoppiness, probably dry-hopped, balanced with malt. Flavors are crisp and slightly citrusy. A very good IPA for hop lovers.

1/7/08 on draft at Yard House. Slightly skunky with very little hop flavor. Alcohol not well hidden and beer not well balanced. One of the weaker IPAs I’ve tried.
