Smells hoppy, bitter and the botter lasts a long time in your mouth. Maybe alittle citrusy if you really think about it. It’s an ok beer. Ipa’s arent my thing. Rakluba (33), Cary, North Carolina, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 12, 2008 Not my favorite IPA at all. Some nice qualities of the hops in there but nothing special. I would rather purchase a different IPA. BREWMUSKCLES (1083), New Jersey, USA

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Jan 6, 2008 12 oz bottle- solid IPA by redhook. Pours a deep golden color with little head. Very hoppy and somewhat sweet aroma once the carbonation subsides. Flavor and palate are also very typical of an IPA. Medium body and no bitter aftertaste. islay (478), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Jan 5, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Weak but not unpleasant aroma with a tangerine scent and a touch of dryness. Pours a lightly effervescent pale brass with a small amount of uneven, off-white head. The liquid is mostly clear but does have a light haze. It looks suspiciously like a pale lager. Produces surprisingly nice lacing. Bland, unfortunately sweet taste. Green apple, white grape juice, paprika, and candy corn flavors. A little dry, especially in the finish, but not nearly as much so as most pale ales are. I’m not getting much from the hops. Boring! Not much aftertaste for an IPA. Light to medium body. Lively in the palate. Easy to drink. Quenches thirst effectively. This bottle is a few months old at least, so it probably has lost some of its hops character. I expect a fresh version of this beer would be a little better, but I doubt it would gain more than a few tenths of a point. I certainly don’t plan to purchase this beer again to test that assumption. Long Hammer is not awful. It’s the kind of beer that wouldn’t cause you to complain if someone handed it to you at a party, but you wouldn’t want to pay any money for it. That reminds me, why did I buy this? I guess I’m just a hopeless IPA completist. Hey, it could be worse. pepsican (885), The Student Ghetto, Iowa, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 4, 2008 Pours a light amber with a thin white head. Aroma of wheat, hops, and malt. Floral hops, lemon, grapfruit, and funk flavors. Finishes thin, decent carbonation. Nothing special and the funk is just too much. LtJudge (432), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA

Aromas of piney hop, grapefruit and caramel malts.Upon first sip you get a huge hop wallop that quicley smoothes out.The body is a tic watery, but a wonderful session ipa! treadyroc (112), St. Leonard, Maryland, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 2, 2008 It grew on me after the first sip, which was met with immediate revulsion. It’s a good attempt, but falls short. Like my wife said when she was in Providence, "they had this on tap, & Budweiser. I chose the Long Hammer."
