Pretty simple flavor-wise: just a bit of citrusy hops and not too much malt to back it up. A simple beer and easy to drink. puboflyons (628), New Hampshire, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 1/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Dec 24, 2007 355 ml bottle dated 112007. Pours almost orange with a significant amount of carbonation and a weak off-white head. The hops aroma is immediately evident as well as something kind of floral. Kind of a watery mouth feel, which was slightly disappointing but the hops flavor was powerful, which balanced the drinking pleasure a bit. I used to shy away from IPA’s, but lately I have been getting into them more. This one is more approachable for me. Not too strong but strong enough to bring out the best of an IPA. goldtwins (4086), Nesconset, New York, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 23, 2007 Poured a clear light copper color with a small white head. Floral and citrus hop is moderate. Light caramel malt underneath. Hoppy start with more floral and citrus notes. Fairly dry bitter mildly bitter finish. Light to medium bodied. themadmumis (344), Westminster, Maryland, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Dec 23, 2007 Disappointing for an IPA. I was expecting for the hops to kick in except the don’t... and fall off the palate. I’m sure this is better on draught, like most things, but I await the day to try that. Average, at best, India Pale Ale that leaves much to be desired. webjedi (249), Silver Spring, Maryland, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 23, 2007 Generally pleasant generic over-hopped IPA. Not too bitter, not too sweet, and for something approaching a macro brewery, it’s something better to fallback on when nothing else is available (much like a Guinness when given the choice of Bud and Coors). Granted, its one of the better Red Hook brews that I’ve has as well. (Bottle - way too many times) chicagodri (1074), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 22, 2007 If you are trying to get someone to start to like different beers this is a good starter IPA. Light hoppy aroma, pours with a white sudsy head. Decent hoppy flavor, well balanced. IPA light, but still not a bad beer. sickassmick (82), Concord, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 16, 2007 A pretty solid beer.. A lot better than I would have guess it would be. The appearance is clear and white sudsy head that stays throughout. Better than average lacing. The taste is a sort of dry bitter that hits you up front and stays on your mouth for a reasonable amount of time. Not nearly enough sweetness to balance this beer off, even though it’s not overly hoppy, if that makes sense. Its a pretty heavy feeling beer, and not the session drinker’s beer. Bottom line is a pretty standard IPA, nothing special but better than I would have expected. Its always on sale.
