Commercial Description:
Everything great that was ever built required a long hammer. A trusty tool used by ordinary ordinary men to make extraordinary things. Transcontinental train tracks. Impossible pipelines. Soaring skyscraper. Long Hammer IPA puts this bold spirit in a bottle. And like its namesake, it's a beer built to stand the test of time.

As expected this beer is loaded with hop but has a bit of malt for some balance. Flavor of grapefruit is plenty tart.

Bottle - Poured a darkish amber in color with a small whitish head. Some lacing on the glass. Aroma is medium of citrus hops and some sweet maltiness. Flavor is citrus hoppy with a substantial amount of malt. Some esteriness in the finish. A little thin. OK, but not great...

Pours a light amber color with light white head. Aroma is of light citrus hops, mild caramel malt. Taste is much the same with light cherry in the finish. Nothing exceptional about this one.

Bottle: Poured a light orangey color ale with a small foamy head with average retention. Aroma of citrusy hops is quite pleasant. Taste is also dominated by some citrusy hops with some very subtle notes of malt. Body is slightly thin with some medium to low carbonation. Interesting and better then expected.

Cask @ GBBF 2007. Pours a golden color with a small white head. Has a fruity malty and hoppy aroma with hints of citrus and grass. Sweet malty and fruity flavor with hoppy hints. Dry finish with some bitterness in the aftertaste.

Bottle, into a tulip. Perfect hoppy aroma, with a dark gold color and complex hoppy, bitter, and somewhat sweet flavor. Soft Slightly above average palate. I like it.

This has more or less become a new staple beer. It has replaced Sweetwater IPA for biological reasons. There is a nice hop flavor combined with a few other subtlties such as citrus and nutmeg. We’ll see how long this stays on my staple list.

12 oz bottle: Pours a lightly murky golden/copper color with a soapy white head that lingers for a while. Aroma has a nice floral hop aroma with grapefruit and pine needles coming to the forefront. No discernable malt characteristics but the citrus fruit packs a punch in the aroma. Taste is a bright bitter hop texture with a mild lingering bitterness into the palate. In my opinion, This beer is too one dimensional for an IPA. It’s good and I would get it again but just not the cream of the crop.
