Rciesla (3500), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA Apr 20, 2009 Bottle. Pours a brown body with a tan head. Sweet and tangy malt character, lighly nutty and some toasted malt. Toast and some light caramel. fakepurseninja (772), Washington, USA Apr 13, 2009 Brown ales always hit my nose with a spoiled laundry aroma that slowly opens up the the real bouquet as it warms - this was no different. Had on Nitro at Redhook, lending an intensely creamy mouth feel to what would have been a pretty thin drink. Bready malt backbone with lots of nuttiness and some light cola spice. Light caramel sweetness and a solid hop bitterness at the finish. Good example of the style. Bradrcr (778), Renton, Washington, USA Apr 4, 2009 4/4/09 on nitrous at the Woodinville brewery. Aroma is medium roast forward with a light nutty, caramel background and no hops. Appearance is clear copper with a well maintained cream colored head. Flavor is sweet/sour malt forward with a low earthy hop note. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a low carb texture. Overall, very easy drinking, but needs more complexity. nqualls (1429), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Sep 17, 2008 Bottle. Poured a dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma of nuts and caramel malt. Flavor reflects the aroma. Body is too light. phishpond417 (1861), Madison, Wisconsin, USA May 12, 2008 Pours a dark brown colour with a little tan head. Aroma is nutty with roasted almonds and soft honey. Lighter then what i would’ve enjoyed, taste has faint nutty characteristics and milk chocolate. As I recall, this wasn’t the nut brown flavor I was hoping for. Perhaps the nut brown is more of the hue of the brew. Flavors were that of an amber ale. Nothing unique. changeup45 (782), Orlando, Florida, USA Apr 12, 2008 Pours a dark brown, amber tinted body with a moderate tanish head. Aroma is sweet with mild malts in there. Flavor is pretty sweet (but not overly sweet), with brown sugar an wood characteristics. Some malt lingers in the background. Often I find that some Brown Ales are way too sweet or quite bland and this was fortunately neither. Solid overall choice.
