| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 27, 2005 Chestnut brown pour supporting a medium khaki head and not much lacing. Aroma of hazelnuts, roasted malt and faint fruit but, overall, the aroma was quite light. Flavor of roasted malt, toast, milk chocolate, a little hops and some straw or pine. Mouthfeel was watery. Finish was tasty and crisp but otherwise not memorable. Not a bad tasting beer but it felt and tasted almost like a lite brown ale. There are other better choices out there. mjg74 (1997), La Mesa, California, USA

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Apr 2, 2005 Updated: Apr 4, 20052005 bottle at Julios Spring Beer Fest, 4/02/05. Medium-brown-chestnut colored body, with no haze, small beige head, mostly dissipating to light cover. No lacing. Aroma of light English yeast, dry and lightly musty. A bit of spoiled fruits, caramelized sugar and old peaches. Flavor of lightly sticky, bittersweet toffe, slight yeast and dirty malts. Fuggley funkiness provides some interest as it ends, but there is little here to keep my interest. Medium-light body, no challenging flavors. A hint of caramel-chocolate lingers on. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 30, 2005 Bottle Pours a dark redish brown and a large foamy light tan head leaving dry clumpy lacing as it recedes. Sweet dark malty aroma witha somewhat acidic twang. Flavors a re chocolate, coacoa and a soft woody flavor. Only a slight hop profile and a very soft, almost flat carbonation. Soft feel and smoth. Overall a bit bland but drinkable and pleasant. BeerandBlues2 (3216), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA

Brown sugar and maple malt aromas with a hop nose. Initially hoppy and then a caramel and citrus malt finish. Medium and refreshing palate, very drinkable. eve (240), Iowa City, Iowa, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 25, 2005 Smooooth, creamy palate from this red-brown ale, slight beige head, pretty lacing. The aroma was bigger and fruitier than I expected, but especially surprised by that smooth palate--not much carbonation-- and little twist of sweetness on the finish. Especially nice since somebody gave me a six just for letting their kid spend the night--so it was free! (Unless the little boys keep me up all night!) Magjayran (1379), Durham, North Carolina, USA

Average head with good lacing. Tastes pretty damn good. Very malty with nutty hints and a fairly sweet finish. Maybe my favorite from this brewery.
