| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Mar 9, 2005 It was a rich brown color when poured, the head dissapates fairly quickly. It has a malty, nutty flavor with just the right amount of hops. Very nice clean finish, over all a quite nice nut brown by these folks. zach8270 (2129), Henrietta, New York, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Mar 9, 2005 Updated: Dec 6, 2008[12 oz. bottle] Clear brown color with red highlights and a very quickly dissipating tan head. The aroma is slightly faint... mostly malts with a very sweet hint of something that smells like a mix of a few different kinds of melons. Mild flavor of slightly toasted malt with a sweet finish but an aftertaste that leaves your tongue quickly. Very watery. maltdog (518), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 8, 2005 Saturated cherry-brown color, wimpy tan head but decent lacing. Attractive German-origin hop aromas, minty and earthy with an undercurrent of perfume. Malt nose is pumpernickel and fruity watermelon rind. Flavors of peaty rummy malt, fruit salad, elements of chocolate milk and charred wood. Also a little soapy/cheesy. Some spicy hop flavor and bitterness. Palate is round but somewhat flabby. Soft aftertaste of walnut coffeecake and apples. Overall, nicely balanced and refreshing beer that is not overwhelmed by PNW grapefruit hop character. I would also categorize it as Scottish style. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 7, 2005 "Tawny" is a good description of the color. Short head but ample lacing to the bottom of the glass. Aroma is malty with an especially soft walnut tone; also lots of dark rum. Sweet maple nut flavor with a surprisingly strong hops finish. Alcohol shows through on the finish also, but I find this preferable for the style. Might try Redhook N.B. paired with a spicy poultry cutlet. BrockLanders (750), Panama City, Florida, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 1, 2005 Bottle. Pours a light brown with a small beige head. Aroma is definitely sweet and malty, with notable roasted nut hints. Taste is sweet malts with a hint of roastiness and a little nuttiness to go along with some light hops. Not as carbonated as I figured it to be. Not horrible. gsteph (266), knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 28, 2005 Dark amber pour with a tan head. Left very sticky lacing. Nutty, malty aroma. Flavor is nutty, sweet caramel, and salty with a touch of hops. The body is a little thin and watery. Overall not a bad beer, if you couldn’t find anything better this would do. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 25, 2005 Pours deep dark ruby brown. Malty aroma. I’m drinking honey, raspberries, roasted walnuts, and salt. Finishes clean and sweet. Great to have a few of these tasty ones in a row, but the sweetness prevents a full session brew. I’ll have this again.
