Flavor is of sweet caramel, and fruit. This beer sort of fades off in the finish. Doesn’t taste like I first remember it years ago. tiggmtl (4311), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 2, 2004 I’m guessing it’s chocolate malt that contributes both sweetness and gentle roastiness to the aroma. Clear amber-brown with off-white pillowy head that recedes to cover with some lacing. Sweet caramel flavour up front that blends into a pleasing roasty bitterness. Medium bodied and quite drinkable. Bottle. Sampled at Mr. Pickwick’s at Stowe (Fall 2003). Dorwart (1830), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 1, 2004 Good thick light tan head. Settles to a nice creamy foam. Low carbonation. Rich aroma with roasted grains, molasses and malts. Color is a deep ruby/brown. Creamy mouthfeel. Bit thin but what there is is good. More roasted grains, bit of smoke and soy sauce. Slight hops presence at the finish and a bit of bitterness. Kind of chalky. A decent brown ale. kumite56 (461), Cordova, Tennessee, USA

Aroma is malty, molasses and nutty. Initial taste is moderately sweet with a nice hopps present in the finish. A decent beer Nate (2564), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jun 14, 2004 Sweet chocolate-nutty aroma, fruity sweet berries. Light fruity hops. Medium dark copper brown clear with off-white, almost light tan foamy lacing head. Medium heavy watery body with medium carbonation. Starts rather acidic, light sweetness with nut-fruity notes and some chocolate. Finish has some toasted character, still acidic. After is lightly nutty, with a bit of sweetness and no bitter. sfontain (507), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 18, 2004 Brown/garnet with a small, off-white head. Aroma is malty and sugary with a hint of nuts. Flavor is thin, mostly with bland sweetness and super-mild hoppiness in the finish; not impressive. Roughly average mouthfeel. Another easy drinking Redhook, but a poor example of a nut brown. Either Redhook has changed, or my tastes have, or both. Very uninspired pour. Disappointing. harlequinn (2745), Tacoma, Washington, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | May 13, 2004 This lacks everything that I love about brown ales. It is not nrealy nutty enough, lacks that solid malty backbone, and finishes with a bit of honey sweetness. Too thin.
