It’s malty, a little hoppy, but lacks the caramel sweetness of most browns. Good overall, but not what I expected. BuckNaked (1209), Tempe, Arizona, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 28, 2004 Bottle (4/28/04): Pours with almost no light brown head, to a nice clear walnut brown. Slightly medium/dark roasted malt, caramel, with barely a hint of nuts. Initial taste is sweet, slightly malty, without much nuttiness. Palate is light, watery, with lively carbonation. Finish is certainly nothing to write home about with slight notes of sweet brown sugar, very little hops, and at the very end there’s a flavor that almost gets to the nut you’ve been expecting to taste since you opened it. Almost. Although I’m not giving this one a high rating, it is very drinkable, and certainly a good beer for the price. hershiser2 (914), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Apr 19, 2004 Red brown in color. Head is khaki-colored and rather large, though it is mostliy diminishing. Caramel malt aroma with edges of brown sugar. Mildly malty flavor, more brown sugar with wet grains in the finish. Very easy to drink. michael-pollack (2723), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 4/5 | 9/20 | Apr 14, 2004 Slight malty aroma. Poured nice dark brown with no head from 12oz bottle. Looks thin. Slightly nutty, roasted flavor. Tasty, but like the color, the taste is thin. An easy drink. Overall, an OK nut brown, but not that special. mribm (419), Hurley, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 10, 2004 Bottle. Poured a nice mahogany brown color with a nice sized tan head. A nice maltiness is present in the nose and the taste. The finish was sweet and hoppy, which I liked. I would definitely try this beer again. fishonmyplane (125), Newington, Connecticut, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 8, 2004 Redhook generally makes average beers and this is no exception. For starters, there's not much aroma. The appearance is alright, but it lets a lot of light in, and the head disappears too fast. The flavor is pretty good; sweet and nutty, but the palate is a little too watery. I got this on sale and that's probably the only way I would buy it again. wilkie (1191), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 5, 2004 Dark brown, see through with medium head which slowly dissipates. Nice lacing. Faint malty aroma. Good flavor--nutty, malty, caramel, roasty, with a slight bitter aftertaste. There is also a strange medicinal quality to the aftertaste. Nothing special, but not terrible.
