| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Mar 29, 2004 Dark brown with red highlights, almost no head formed, very light malty sweet aroma. Sweet malt dominates the flavor, some nuttiness adds color and their might be some hops in there too. Overall non-offensive and drinkable and not that bad, but it just seems like a marketing weenie somehow got involved and compromised the end result. ElGaucho (1730), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Mar 25, 2004 Faint aroma, though I was battling smoky bar conditions at Old Chicago in Plymouth, MN. Dark red in color with a thin, tan head. Excellent lace. Not very nutty. Served too cold. Easy drinking; clearly made to please to masses. Allright. Nothing offending but nothing unique. Redhook seems very hit and miss. This one's a miss. MilkmanDan (1940), Eagan, Minnesota, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 23, 2004 Deep clear brown-red with a puffy off-white head. Nose malty and sweet. Flavor is peaty and mildly smoky but overly sweet with the malts. ukoolaid (572), Amherst, Massachusetts, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 13, 2004 Bottle. Redish brown with small off-white head. Weak aroma. Taste is lightly hoppy with some fruit and brown sugar. Not very super impressive, but very drinkable. KarmanGhia (276), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Mar 12, 2004 Updated: Mar 16, 2005I expected something that would be trying to compete with New Castle, but what I got was a one-dimensional half-porter. This pours a dark brown color with a light tan head. The foretaste is uninteresting and the rest is of a nutty, slightly burnt, porteresque ale. Not bad, but halving a six pack with a friend was tough. It is just too weak to be an interesting porter and too focused or maybe one-dimensional to drink more than 12 ounces. It has only a trace of the redeeming qualities that a brown ale needs to be a success. FROTHINGSLOSH (2036), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer pours a very dark brown with a small head that quickly fades. There is a very faint sour aroma. The taste is nutty and smooth with just a hint of bitterness. An ok nut brown. SDbruboy (1832), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 7, 2004 Bottle. Nice brown color in the glass with an off-white head that settles quickly. Orangey brown and clear when held to light. Not a lot of aroma, slightly sweet, floral and nutty notes. Sweet, toasted maltiness, fruity, slight citrus, prune juice and bitter hop finish. Medium body and lightly carbonated.
